All Other Dark Tides Stuff / Re: A list of All 8x8 Skills
« on: July 13, 2020, 10:18:48 AM »
I would also like to note that Animal Lore goes up as you train Animal Taming. In the past when I have trained taming in the zoo I have gotten Lore to GM before Taming. Since you need both for taming I usually suggest just to train it in the zoo, as the zoo has been tested many times and has gotten many players up to 150 for both Lore and Taming. We do our best to test things as much as possible before they are released to the general population of players.

All Other Dark Tides Stuff / Re: A list of All 8x8 Skills
« on: July 12, 2020, 06:56:11 PM »
As stated in the original post: To get gains you need to move at least 8 tiles, and/or switch targets/location after you gain 0.3 in the skill being used or target something 3 times. This will vary from skill to skill. This system also remembers your targets/locations for 5 minutes.

It varies from skill to skill. Animal Taming remembers your same target for 5 minutes. There are multiple of the same animal in each pen to tame, so this one is not by movement but by target.
The zoo was built so that players would have a place to train taming. I have not had issues using the zoo to train taming, as this "8x8 skill" does not require movement to gain skill.
Some skills require only movement of about 8 tiles, some skills require only change in target, some skills require both.

Animal taming can be train in the zoo, afk. The zoo allows you to train up to 150 raw skill.

Suggestions / Re: Shared Item IDs
« on: July 08, 2020, 12:02:17 AM »
Thank you for the suggestion! We are aware that some items share Item IDs, we have only recently had a staff member dedicated to creating and adding art files. We will pass along this information, so they are able to look into these suggestions. This is a very well prepared suggestion, we greatly appreciate the thought you put into it!

The Dark Tides Classifieds / Charity Donation House
« on: May 04, 2020, 11:13:59 PM »
I would like to start by saying that all donations to the Charity Donation House are appreciated!!

With that said I feel that I do need to say that some items that are donated are not appropriate for us to put into the donation house.
-Pets: Those need to be donated to the zoo. The more pets we have donated to the zoo the more animals we see in the zoo. (For a full list of what can be donated to the zoo please see the following post: http://www.thedarktides.com/forum/index.php?topic=111.0 ) For a starting player they have no idea what they need for skills for any pet in the Dark Tides World. I wouldn't want a new player taking a pet and it going wild on them, because they do not have the required skill for said pet.
-Minor Artifacts, Stealable Gear, Keys, and Quest Reward Gear: These items are all acquired in game some how and most times these items have a lot more bonuses then an item that would generally drop on a monster. This could be the opposite of helpful to a new player who is trying to work up their skills. This is why these items can be obtained by people in game when they have the skills to be able to acquire them on their own.

Please do keep in mind that all donations are appreciated and needed to help players progress their chars at all different points in game. This depends player to player and when/how they decide to train their char. This is why the donation house is open to everyone and not just new players. Someone who reaches elemental god status may not have taken time to train up crafting skills and may need a little help and that is ok. This is what the donation house is for, to help those who need it.

In addition to the donation chests at each bank, I am sure you have all see the 4 chests set up just outside the doors of the donation house. If you have a larger bag of donation items or items that will not be taken by the donation chests this is where you can place these items for your convenience. An item like a quiver cannot be donated at a donation chest by a bank, because they are considered a container.

If you have questions concerning the donation house and what is appropriate to donate please contact me and we can discuss those questions. I am glad so many have taken the time to donate items everyone who visits the donation house for help Thanks you!!

Broken Things / Re: Different Shades of Same
« on: April 27, 2020, 12:04:20 PM »
Well, just a little thing. Those ninja jackets that can be worn under a tunic usually take up the tunic spot. So it could be a jester suit that takes the robe slot.
See what I mean? I do understand what you are saying better now. As I am not a coder I do not know if what you are asking is a possibility.
Just remember tho with new dungeons comes the possibility of new artis. :)

We do currently have ninja jackets and shirts that have some good properties just like a tunic would have, so there are options. Also some of these things can be worn under a tunic/chest piece. I am not against doing more items like that, like the jester suit. I think if we had a dungeon that fit it we could for sure make it work. Essentially making it possible to wear a jester suit as an armor piece.
Not sure if this is what you are fully meaning here, but it for sure is interesting. I think we should get some more thoughts on this one for sure. Also let me know if I am fully understanding what you are meaning here.
